The girl was surprisingly light and unnaturally warm.She put a hand in his hair and peacefully continued staring at him.

"Yes! You see, you're in a book, and so are they." I said, pointing at various people around the circle. "Acually, lots of books."

I nodded, and pulled out my wand. I sent a couple of purple fireworks into the air in front of the girl, to ammuse her.

I shivered at the mention of book. "Just one."

I nodded, believing them. "Dagda's beard, Merlin would love this."

"Actually, Dustfinger, four. If you count a book inside a book."

She smiled angelically again

I took a deep breath. All of this was to much. I needed some coffee. "I'm sure he would." I told Rhia, grinning, "I don't suppose you have any rassberry syrup? Ever since I read the books I've always wanted to taste it. Among other things."

I grinned up at the little girl, remembering when Ginny was that small. "You remind me of my little sister."

I looked at the girl called Kat, puzzled.

"Oh, here, help yourself." I tossed a vial to the girl who knew me. I pulled another out for myself.

She nodded

"Mmmm, this is great." I said, instantly feeling better. I was drinking Rhia's rasberry syrup. Oh. My. Gosh.

Suddenly I took her down from my sholders and did something I used to do to Ginny. I tickled her, swing her around in my arms.

I watched everyone, only slightly intrested. "But, do you know how we can get back to our homes?"

"He has a point." I said, putting my hands on my leafy hips. "I've got a brother that gets lost easily." I smiled at the gilr they called Kat. She would reconize the line.

"That's your line!" I shreiked, choking on some syrup.

She merely smiled

I turned to the girl who knew who the little kid was. "She doesn't talk much, does she?"

"She can't"Mea said

"Oh." I said, setting the little girl back on my sholders.

The girl put her hand back in his hair,smiling

"Do you like my hair or something?" I asked quietly.

"She likes everybody's hair"Mea said with a grin

"Aha."

"Of course I wouldn't!That makes about as much sense as locking myself in one of my aunts dungeons! Goodness,I think Bards are as muddled as assistant pig keepers."said the girl with red-gold hair"Anyway Llyan wouldn't let me"

A purring cat about the size of horse starting rubbing it's head forcibly against the bard.

"Aw, a cat!" I smiled.

I grinned up at the little girl on my sholders. "Friends of yours?"

She shook her head.

"Now I know you want a song,but not now Llyan"

"Okay." I said to the girl. "Does anyone have any food?" I asked.

"I do"said the strange girl.

There was a sharp intake of breath,and Mea started to look through her backpack.

"Um... I have a sandwich." I said, excitedly handing it to Fred. "Actually, I have more than one. Just take that." I had just given my from-a-book-hero a sandwich.

"Thanks, Kat." I took the sandwich, smiling at her enthusiasim. I liked being famous.

She took a book out of her bag.
"I think this'll explain a lot"

"Is it one of the books I'm in?" I asked, jumping slightly so the little girl bounced on my sholders.

"No"She held it up so he could see it better.It was a worn paperback copy of 'The magicians nephew'

"Oh!" I said suddenly. "So you think this is like... Narnia?"

"Narnia, Fred." I said cheerfully. "Its like a parrellel woorld, with magic... and humans. Kinda like... Fincarya, righ, Rhia?"
